Can't install windows......

Right... My google foo has failed me. I'm trying to install a fresh copy of Windows 10 to an old computer, but it's having none of it. The fail codes are pretty generic, 0x80070570 being the usual one. I can only get into the actual installation of windows by loading into safe mode on 32bit, but even then it fails on me. Trying to install off of an official USB drive.

The system is :
q6600
8GB RAM (only have 2gb in at the mo)
hd6950
Single 60GB SSD

Nothing else is installed/connected. I've run memtest and thats fine, and tried it in multiple ram slots. Different HDDs have been tried. I suppose the next test would be to download and create a new boot drive?

Any ideas would be useful.

Yeah, I've formatted the drive after a few attempts. No change on the outcome though

So far I have:
Used different drives,
Used different Hard drives
Used different USB ports
Tried 4 different ram sticks in all 4 slots
Tries installing both 64 and 32 versions
Only the 32 version will get anywhere in safe mode, 64 wont take it at all.

I haven't tried a different USB stick which is my next move.
The computer will run Ubuntu though, which I thought weird.
