flattened both my main computers and reinstalled windows7, both on the same workgroup and network, however i only get the option on both to 'create' a homegroup

anyone seen this?

One computer has to be the 'host' of the homegroup

So yes, create a new one

i have, i create on either, but on the other one no matter what i only get the option to create, before i flattened i created on one and then clicked 'join' on the other... i dont get a join option

Hmm

Check you've got the latest network drivers on both, check they're both connected to the router and can ping each other.

Check they're both on a 'Home' network type and not Public.

Check there's no 3rd party firewall, maybe reset the Windows Firewall settings. Install all Windows updates on both, then reboot.

Now create a Homegroup on one of them, reboot both machines and see if you get the 'Join' option

Failing that, run through these and try the 'FixIt' thing from MS

MMMMMmmmmmm .... last time I ran that MS Fix It software on one of my installs ... it borked it so badly that I had to start with a fresh install all over again :(

yeah everything was set fine, tried again today and was able to add the other 2 to my home group... god knows what that was all about but lost about 3 hours trying yesterday, anyway all is good, thanks for advise.,
