Hi all,

i will be upgrading my entire pc in the next month or so, with bits at christmas and my own money and christmas.

i really cant justify an 8800 for the money, what is the next step down, is it the nvidia 7950 range or the ATI 1950 range?

the HIS ATI 1950XT on the this week only deal for £200 seems pretty good but what other options for max of £200 are there?

alternatively, what are the best clocking ~£150 max cards, as i'm more than happy to overclock as i plan on watercooling the CPU and GPU in my new system :)

Cheers

Matt

Best IceQ X19x0 you can get tbh :D

is that from an overclocking point of view? (havent really delved into computers much in the last year, but i remember you had some good clocks on the XPm's in days gone by so i assume you still clock?)

Yes and no.

They have the best coolers, therefore have lower temps, and you get higher clocks for less noise.

And yes I do still clock.

My X1900XTX does 745/845 @ 1.5/2.141/2.141/1.550 :D

whats the "@ 1.5/2.141/2.141/1.550" part?

i'm used to just clocking the speeds lol, still on an AGP 6800GT @ 450/1130

as i'll most likely be watercooling it soon after getting it (probably march time) i can cope with a "better card / worse cooler" for a few months.

Voltages

X1900s have 4 voltage controllers.

1st is the main core voltage, 4th is additional core voltage

2nd is memory voltage - 3rd is memory buffer voltage, they should be kept within 2% of each other ideally.
