I am having an issue with my computer, it all started when notepad++ wouldnt open, so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall an restarted the computer to see if that would resolve the issue.

When I tried to turn the computer back on the Blue Screen of Death appeared. I was able to get into safe mode and tried to do a system restore but every time the computer restarted the same Blue screen of death would appear.

I have tried various things like a CHKDSK (which doesnt work because even when choosing system repair the BSOD appears)

I have got into safe mode and tried a clean boot (same problem) and finally tried cleaning the registry.

I am unable to get into any of the bios settings and the bootup menu just crashes when trying to boot up in an attempt to reinstall Windows.

I couldnt access any of the BIOS options so I tried a CMOS reset by putting the pin on the motherboard.

Now when I try to load up the computer it gets past the loading screen of the bios but then either goes completely black with a flashing cursor or loads up a blue screen with Gigabyte UEFI dualBIOS at the top and locks up.

I can't get into anything now

Can anyone help?

Hi problem still persists I've backed up the drives so they don't appear to be the problem now when I am trying to boot windows from usb the bsod appears, tried old Xp disc and same bsod appears when it gets to loading the files for the install.

Can't access bios locks up in the settings, motherboard is g1 sniper m3

I installed new motherboard and fresh ssd drive but still same issues, tried individually testing with both sticks of ram and also testing without gpu, this is driving me nuts. What the hell!

Yeah, I can access the new bios now I've replaced the motherboard (couldn't access on the old motherboard which is why I thought that would resolve the issue), components:

Core i7 3770k ivybridge socket lga1155
Antec 300 case
Corsair 750 80 plus bronze
16gb team elite ddr3
Nvidia GeForce 275gtx

Asus p8-277-v (brand new just bought today)
Kingston hyper x 120gb ssd (brand new just bought today)

I could have probably helped you with the old board,it might have needed latest bios

your best bet is to do a minimum install so just one memory stick,no gpu and just the hdd/ssd you want to install windows on

be sure to update to latest bios first through ezflash, then try installing windows

if successful add in all the other components

(it could be faulty ssd) idk other than you try installing to spare drive if you can but try above first

The same problem was happening before I bought the ssd though so it seems very unlikely.

I have tried installation with one stick of ram, without gpu and the only drive that is plugged in is the brand new ssd Unfortuently the same problem, tried with windows 7 boot from usb and even hooked up the old CD-ROM drive to see if I could get XP installed but the BSOD appears after loading in the files. Windows 7 installation just locks up trying to load up and doesn't give the BSOD.

I have jus finished memtest and that has came back as test complete and no errors.

Also updating the bios I don't think is going to solve anything as again the same problem was happening with the old motherboard and I installed windows on that fine when I first bought it (never updated bios since)

I wonder if this could be caused by peripherals like my mouse or keyboard? What are the chances of this being something to do with the CPU or PSU as they are the only things left, anything I can do to test these?

it could be psu,it still best to be on latest bios just to be sure

only way is to try with another psu just to rule it out same for mouse/kb

Since last night:

1) I've tested with my old 500w psu running single stick of ram no gpu same issue.

2) Tried disconnecting the main usb header/hd audio to see if maybe the case cables were causing issues

3) Just bought a new keyboard to see if that was causing the problem

4) Ran another memtest and left it on overnight it ran 8 cycles and no errors

Running out of ideas now!
