Can't log in to Messenger

When I try to log in it says "you can't log in to facebook using this account due to restrictions of the account type"

I don't have FB, only use messenger. I logged in with my wifes account a few days ago on my phone, now it wont let me log back in to mine.

Anything I can do to log back in ?

Try using the messenger lite app, few people having the same issue and sounds like this solves it.

That's a good thing, stay off Facebook and their messenger. urgh.

I'll look at that, does it transfer old messages/photos ? Or is it start from scratch ?

Everything on Messenger is kept on the cloud so you won't lose anything. Both Messenger and Messenger Lite are just clients to log in to your account.

Thaks for the help, downloaded Lite and all pics and conversations are there.
