Cant log into my freeNas 8 account from windows

As title, followed the guide, made a user put it in a group, said I wanted to make a CIFS and my PC see's the freenas on the network, but when i click on it and enter my username & password I setup in free nas just says its incorrect and bounces me back to the log in box, any idea? :confused:

All I can think of is that you may have gone wrong setting the CIFS up ie the shares

look at this ... about the 5.30 mark onwards might be the bit your looking for

Hmm. Last time i saw this issue, it was because i did a "useradd smn" without then doing a "smbpasswd -a smn".

useradd adds a user to the system.
smbpasswd -a adds an existing system user to the smbpasswd file.

Make sure you have converted all your UNIX users to samba users. In "Webmin" theres a simple 1-click button to allow you to do this. If your not sure, open a command line, and run "smbpasswd -a USERNAME" where username is the one your trying to login with.

If he's using FreeNAS 8 guys all the initial setup, users, shares, passwords etc can now be done in a GUI without going to the command line

And I think Squirrel is at the intial setup stage with no one to convert etc

Yes total beginner, tried again, followed the video exactly --- didnt work, says password aint right, however accessing from my home server it accessed it but wont allow anything to be written, says I need persmission, any ideas?

EDIT: Ok got my server to see one of the folders in my freeNAS 8 thing by changing the freeNAS 8s folder permission .........seems to work now, im not mega confident though, is it stable ?

Iv started copying my pictures backup on to it.......and damn its slow like 2mb a second, however server is still calculating the time needed to copy...that slowing it down?

Dont get it copying to from the server from my windows systems is 60-80mb a sec

EDIT 2: Ok seems the freeNAS is running at 100mb not 1GB speed, whhhatt how do I change this ? it is a 1gb hardware.
