I've just built a new i5 system with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Installed.

When I try to login to Steam it hangs then crashes.

I can type my username and password, then it's freezeville.

I've tried compatibility mode but that throws up an error saying you can't run steam like that.

Any ideas?

Is it a fresh Steam install, or are you trying to load Steam from a backed up folder? (such as from a slave drive)

I've had a few instances of Steam freezing since the update last week (it's as if it has problems connecting to the store), though waiting a few minutes and reloading seems to sort it (running Win7).

Not looked around to see if it's a common thing or not.
