Hit me with why I should chose one or the other..
 
i would go with rampage as asus bios is easy to use or even buy x38 maximus formula as its the same x48 board with new bios u can flash maximus formula to make it rampage :)
 
Don't fancy that idea tbh.
I cant help but think there are other things going on behind the scenes we minions don't know about.
AFAIK, X48 boards were designed to run 1600Mhz out of the box and the X38's need clocking to get this..
As well as less heat being produced from a native X48 board compared to a clocked X38..
 
I believe X48's are simply cherry picked X38's but i'm inclined to agree with you about not getting an X38 and flashing it to an X48. It may work with others but knowing my luck it'll end up in the bin.
 
Rampage now on the order list and final...

Just have to go through the HDD plus and minus points now.
