Need some new ram but cant make my mind up which ones to get.

They will be matched with a Q9550 wont be overclocking either.

8GB of This

or 8GB of This

I can get the PC6400 the same as the PC8500 just that the PC6400 has a slightly better latency.

Will I see any difference buying the PC8500?

The PC2-8500 will be a tiny bit faster despite its looser latency. But not something you'll notice since you won't be overclocking.

You may as well get the PC2-8500 if they're both going for the same money.

Very true and the PC8500 will run the same if not better latencies at PC6400 speeds as the PC6400 kit.
