hey
im looking to upgrade from my 8800gt and have narrowed it down to these two cards,
bfg gtx 285 ocx
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-085-BG&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1341

and the bfg gtx 275 ocx
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-089-BG&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1410

obviously the 285 will preform better but it it worth the extra £60 and is it a bit overkill?
currently im playing on games like far cry 2 / arma 2 and css and really want to be maxxing out the settings on far cry 2 and arma 2 and on games in the near future. also im not moving to windows 7 any time soon so dont worry about direct 11 cards ;)

current specs are

22" 1650 x 1050 monitor
Q6600 2.4 ghz
xpert vision 8800gt sonic
6gb ram
windows xp 64

thanks very much!

GTX 275, cheaper and often beats the GTX 285.

Since when did the gtx275 often beat the gtx285. It often beats a gtx280 in reviews but not the gtx285. Maybe an oc edition gtx275 would often beat a gtx285 or when a game is being cpu limited at low resolution but at a decent resolution the gtx285 should always come out on top.

To the op i would just buy a cheap gtx275 and overclock it yourself.

Hiya, I have a GTX 275 and its great. I highly recommend it. Buy the stock version and overclock it yourself!! Thats what I did with EVGA Precision and I have an overclock higher than the ones they ship out from the factories. I got mine from Overclockers its XFX, the service was excellent and the card is awesome. A big thumbs up!
