Can't open Steam games

When I try to open a game via Steam, the icon moves into the dock, and bounces up and down for quite some time. It then stops bouncing, implying (I believe?) that the program is open, but no window comes up and I have to force quit.

Any ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated :)

Turn Apple off>Throw it out of nearest window>Go buy a PC.

Solved. ;)

Brilliant...

:p

EDIT: It doesn't just seem to be steam games in fact. The App Store isn't opening correctly, and neither is Address Book. I assume other programs are affected as well. The App Store opens but doesn't display properly - white background and no images - and the Address Book displays nothing but a white box.

Could it be graphics drivers? 2011 13" MBP, base model.

Wow, that helps.

To the OP, what game are you trying to run? This has happened a few times with me with TF2, and its usually the game that crashes rather than Steam itself, but in all fairness its has got better since the last few patches.

Nothing much I can suggest other than the usual check for updates, game/steam/osx, and probably a cheeky reboot just in case.

I'm trying to run Football Manager, but have also tried Plants vs Zombies and a couple of other just to check...as mentioned above in an edit, it doesn't only appear to be games which are having a problem. I'll have a go at rebooting.
