hi guys i need some help.
i have a xfx hd4770, but i cant overclock it. not even by a little bit.
as soon as i do, i just get a blank screen and i have to restart pc.
core clock speed is 750mhz
memory clock speed is 800mhz.
if i even increase these by 10mhz it crashes.

my temps are also ok.
idle temp is around 50.C
furmark load temp is around 70.C

reading around net, this card is a great overclocker.
with some getting stable speeds of 830mhz core speed and 972mhz memory speed.

why cant i overclock mine?

the cards max power draw at load is 85w
i have a 400w akasa psu.
E3300 overclocked @ 3.0ghz
2gb ddr2 ram

is it the psu? causing this, or something else.

I doubt it's the PSU since you only overclock by 10 MHz. What software do you use to overclock it? See what happens if you downclock it.

i just use CCC.
i was going to use msi afterburner or rivatuner but i wanted to get it stable first.
also was thinking of flashing to asus top bios, would this fix it.
is it a bios problem?

edit.
if i downclock it, it runs fine
also running latest drivers

set up a fan profile in rivatuner to to get the fans to turn up earlier and bring the temps down a bit and try again. I did this and it let me get a much better OC on my XFX 4890, or as already said , it may just not like OC'ing.
