Can't pick up wireless in same room as router!

Hi, I've just bought an Acer laptop with inte)grated Wifi, which worked fine with my Belkin 54G Router for a few hours yesterday before stopping to work altogether after a restart I beleive as I was customising it. I've tried all the usual, resetting the router numerous times, reinstalling the wifi on the laptop, re-enabling the services I disabled to try speeding the thing up. I've had this kind of trouble with this router before, but it just seems to randomly start working at some point :confused:

Any ideas? (Currently running it wired to router)

My brother-in-law's belkin was doing the same thing only a day ago and i could not for the life of me work it out. As soon as i had gone it reconnected and worked fine!!! god only knows why it wasent working.

Do you have any sort of Security on the Router?

Reset the router to factory defaults (RTFM?) and log in from a wired client, is the router admin page functional ? If not your router may be dead. If it is functional check you have WEP etc. turned off (on both), the chan and the SSID on both are the same. Also check the router and card are both set to b/g or whatever (I can select on my router if it run's both or an individual) Now see if it will connect.

Could also be worth checking the ariel's are plugged in on the laptop/router ?

Also tell him not to buy Belkin in future ... they make expensive cables and bricks

Don't suppose your Acer has a Wireless On/Off button on the front like mine does it? I keep knocking it and causing the wireless card to be disabled.
