Can't play .mov files

Hi,

I'm having a problem with playing .mov files. There will either be no video at all, or there will be very stuttery video. The sound is perfect, however. This exact same thing happened on my previous Vista install too.

I have tried using QuickTime Alternative, and Apple QuickTime, neither of which work. I don't know where to turn next since I assumed at least one of those would work :mad:

Any help appreciated.

EDIT - The file will play in VLC. I can't understand why it won't even play in QuickTime though! Crazy.

Well you could just make VLC be the default application for .mov files?

Have you installed any other codec packs on Vista then? The way you write it suggests that it used to work but no doesn't?

Could try having a play around with the Quicktime settings in the Control Panel. Under advanced i had to disable Direct3D video acceleration to remove my stuttering.

Hi I think the easiest thing to do is simply associate .mov files with VLC. Thanks for the help.
