its an old gateway lappy and I therefore require the intel SATA driver to run during win setup when you press f6 so the lappy can detect the HDD, currently I get "cannot find hdd error"...

This is the precise driver I require:-

File Description: Gateway(r) Notebook Computer Intel SATA Support Driver
Version: D00455-001-001
Operating System: Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP Tablet OS
Part Number: D00455-001-001.exe
Date: 03/28/2006

When I downloaded this driver from Gateway website the readme file advised me to open F6flpy32.exe file located inside which further extracts to release the driver...

Regretably due to not owning a floppy drive I cannot do this, I therefore wonder if anyone has this driver in particular the F6flpy32.exe already extracted that they could email or upload for me?

Thanks in advance..

does the exe extract only to a floppy? I don't really understand the question. If you can't load the driver during the install you can put it on a cd and that should work.

problem: gateway lappy when trying to reinstall windows stops after pressing enter to install windows because of the following error msg "setup cannot find harddrive".....

this is because the intel SATA harddrive driver is missing therefore when you first launch windows setup you have to press f6 to locate the driver....

trouble with the driver is that it will not open because its an exe file and I understand you need a floppy disk to open and save it onto because you cannot point the f6 setup to a CD drive or a flash drive...

therefore i wondered if anyone had a floppy drive if they could open the F6flpy32.exe file for me which would give them the drivers and upload it somewhere for me to download?

zshare is free with no registration. may have to zip/rar it first though

there no way to slipstream the driver into a windows install using nlite or something ?

Yeah just slipstream the driver onto a cd using nlite its the easiest and best way.

Or even better visit the site below download, driverpack base and the mass storage driverpack slipstream it using base and then burn to disk this way you will have a windows disk that will install on any sata controller :)

Good luck!

hey guys...

I used nlite to slipstream the drivers I extracted them using magicISO...

I then followed this link:-

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...d-disk-drives-during-windows-xp-installation/

and hey presto it works...

Thank you all so very much for your assistance and support especially emailing me drivers...

Your efforts are most appreciated...

I think I will add sp3 to my xp disk now with some additional software so upon reinstallation I dont have to waste further time...

Cheers OCUK!!!

Glad you got it working mate and yeah I would slipstream sp3 too as much cleaner install, also remember you can remove any junk you don't want from xp too to make a nice fast clean install!
