I'm running Windows 8. When I try to remove Windows.old from C drive I get a BSOD with the error message 'Overran Stack Buffer'. The machine then reboots.

I would like to get the 14 gigs of HD space back. Any ideas?

Run disk cleanup and when it comes up there will be a "clean system files" with the admin shield next to it. click that and it will run again.

This time it should show up with previous windows installs and will remove the windows.old.

you can delete the program files within window.old if you no longer want the data

Also try CMD

Also move the directory into temp and run a program called cleanup
