I have a physical server which is Server 2016 running on an older Dell server.
The windows server backup runs to a 4TB external drive.
I have always been able to restore ok from within the operating system but I needed to do a full restore.
I booted from the dvd and then when the system was searching for backup images it couldn't see the external drive only the last image that was on the internal hard drive.
If i boot in to windows server I can see the drive fine and can restore files from it.
Why can't I see the eternal drive if trying to do a full bare metal restore and booting from the DVD?
