mouse: logitech G5

hi,
i have had this odd bug which has started to appear randomly over the last couple of weeks. what will happen is if i open any window, or desktop program the window/programs the taskbar-button in the taskbar will start 'blinking' (if you know what i mean). will they are blinking you cant change between windows using the taskbar button, but eventually it will stop blinking. you can still maximise/minimise the window with a LMB click.

example

the main problem is that when you use RMB to bring up the conext menu, no menu appears, it just starts blinking!

anywhere else on the taskbar the RMB context menu works, eg system tray or blank areas of the taskbar.

if i log out or reboot that will stop it.

i didnt think it was virus, but i ran AVG anyway. no viruses detected.
ran spybot. nothing.
i then ran registry mechanic and fixed the errors, but alas still this bug comes back.
i updated the few updates windows update wanted as well. no dice.

i bought a new mouse on May 2nd, a logitech G5, and updated to the latest software about 5 days later.

but this bug has only been around for about 2 weeks. :(

any ideas?
