Can't run Java application

I'm trying to ssh into my online hosting via their java applet, but the application won't run because I keep getting the error:

"Your security settings have blocked a self-signed application from running"

What security settings?

I've set OSX to allow installation of app from anywhere. I've turned off the firewall. I've set my java security to the lowest possible, and whitelisted the website.

What browser are you using? If it's an applet then it'll probably be a security setting within the browser I think.

It's Safari.

Java won't run in Chrome as it's only 32-bit.

Other Java programs run it's just this one.

I've whitelisted the site in my safari settings, and it's set to allow Java.
