Can't see an image in Gmail. It's embedded, not attached?

A few months ago I sent some friends a screencap of my desktop via google mail by simply pasting the image into an email and sending.

My desktop got mashed the other day (thanks Vista!) so it would be useful to see this image. My friends no longer have it, BUT, I can see the email in my gmail sent folder. However, it does not show the image, but the embedded coding.

eg:-
<img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAB4AAAASwCAIAAACVUsChAAAgAElEQVR4nOzdd1QU98I+8 etc...

I've tried forwarding it and various things, but just cannot get/see the image :(

Any suggestions?

How are you viewing the email?

Try a dedicated client such as Thunderbird if you normally use a web browser.

Viewnig within gmail online... And wouldn't want to change that!

This wouldn't pop3 the emails out of my account etc? ie: I could just view what there online?
