Can’t see any documents?

Evening all,

Recently upgraded a few components (mobo, RAM and case) and I wiped everything due to having a few bugs with windows after moving all my storage to the new pc.

Anyway, now I can’t see any documents on file explorer? I only realised this after trying to edit some of the documents on Halo infinite so I can set the FPS to my screen refresh rate, instead of the maximum 99fps the in-game settings allow.

I go to file explorer, click on documents and there’s nothing there? Obviously it’s a new PC so I’m not expecting tons of stuff, but there’s just nothing? I done the same thing with halo before my upgrade and I just copy & pasted the document name into file explorer and it was there.

Possibly me being dense but any help is much appreciated. Ty

I think you have already answered your own question.

But surely if I’ve download games and other stuff, (iCUE, Ccleaner, discord etc) I should have something there? And like I said, I done this before I upgraded anything and all I did was copy & paste the file name, which now apparently doesn’t exist, even though I’ve got the same game installed?

Not on documents no, nothing goes to this by default usually. You on about "My Documents" folder?

This PC > Documents.

Again, it may be me being dense, I’m alright at putting PCs together, but then I’m as good as a chocolate teapot once they’re turned on ‍♂️.

it’s just when I done this before the upgrade, everything worked fine. Now when I try the exact same thing, I get “windows can’t find ‘blahblahblah’ check the spelling and try again”. And then I noticed the documents folder was completely empty, so I thought that would be the problem considering that’s where I was searching for it.

I just reset it completely and reinstalled windows from cloud. The only thing I may have done differently is sign into a Microsoft account that I had years ago. The pc I was upgrading was a pre built by ********* so it was all set up when I plugged it in.

It's a new user then so everything will have gone from that user. It might still be there as said above. If you don't see any more users under C:\Users then it's been wiped fully.

I thought this but then where are all the files for halo saved? Surely if I’ve installed the game and other things on whatever user I’m using now I should still see the documents?

Through gamepass if that makes a difference? I did have it on steam & gamepass before though, (steam for the MP when it was released and gamepass for the campaign) so not sure if that makes a difference as now I only have it on GP.
programs go to c:\program files
documents go to c:\user\documents

HALO is a program if halo did have stuff in documents they will only be created if you launch halo

halo is not in my documents folder nor should it
