Can't see behind?

At the moment my arms are pretty much blocking my mirrors. I can either adjust them so that they point more sideways than backwards, or leave them in the "normal" position, in which case 50% plus of the mirror shows my arms, and I have to move my arm and/or head a fair bit to see behind me.

Am I doing it wrong? Do little 125s just come with little mirror stalks? Can/should I get a longer set? Do many people have to do this?

I had the same problem on my 125.

You can try adjusting the bars so that your arms sit slightly lower, or even go the expense of replacing the mirrors with ones fitted with longer stalks.

I put up with it and made a point of moving my head to see into the mirror. This is actually good practice for your test, as the examiner will be able to see clearly that you are making rearward observations.

Strongly agree with gilly,

You need to get into the habbit of moving your head as it is, so leave them and simply tuck in your arm and move your head.

Try looking into a Ducati mirror! Damn near impossible to see but I manage.

Most bikes I have tried have this problem; even on my RSV which is pretty wide for a sports bike I have to move my arms to get a good view.

The mirrors on my ZX6R aren't that bad. I get a resonably good view of whats behind me to either side so is fine on the motorway, apart from blind spots, but if I want to see, for example, if the local plod are following me I need to tuck my arm in and move my head to do so.

That or just sit up and turn around :p

don't do this on your test

Fairing-mounted mirrors are the way forward :). On my old bike I tend to shift my head and tuck my arm in a little.
