Can't seem to get a decent stable overclock

Currently testing a 3.12GHz overclock (Default i7 920 2.67GHz) Clock Ratio 20x, BCLK 156MHz, Vcore 1.26250V [1.26875V]

Cooler is: Scythe Katana 2 Heatpipe Quiet, i can't get anywhere near the 4 - 4.2Ghz many on various forums with this processor are reporting, i appreciate this cooler is probably the bottleneck, but shouldn't i be able to push what i currently have a bit further without meltdown occurring, or am i just (as i suspect) unlucky with my particular processor.
I don't really understand all the various other settings (apart from Clock Ratio, BCLK & Vcore) under the Intelligent Tweaker options.. perhaps some further tweaking could improve my chances of success..?

stick clock multi to 21x as i rememember my 920 didnt like 20x

you should be able to hit 3.8 easy with 180 base clock. my voltage for that was around 1.218v

20x is a bit harder to get stable, in my case i needed 1.300 vcore at 20x200, while 21x193 was acheived at 1.2750
