Can't select emoji's on mobile?

This might be a silly question but is there any way to select from the site emoji's whilst on a mobile?

I can do it fine on a desktop but can't seem to find the option while on phone!?!?

Same goes for formatting the text with italics etc - the options are there but are greyed out??

Press the top right button in the editor to turn off preview to allow formatting.

You can select them although sometimes I can't get the cursor to go beyond an inserted smiley, tap it but it won't move so have to delete it and then type.

That's on Firefox Android

Do you mean the icon showing a page with a turned up corner and a magnifying glass on it?

Doesn't seem to do anything when I click it?

I get the same both in Chrome and via the app!?!?

Fair point but occasionally I feel the need to express an emotion! (like now, a winky face or grinning teeth emoji would be suitable!)

Yes that's the one. If you enable the preview all the formatting options will be greyed out.

Looks like it is a Chrome issue - just loaded the website on the Samsung browser and it works fine!

try turning your phone sideways, that seems to sort out some other mobile browser quirks (like not being able to see sigs) for me.

Edit (from phone): weird, I can add formatting using android chrome :eek:

Yeah, tried this and it doesn't make any difference!

I've got the same issue on my phone as well. If I clear the browser cache and then load the page (or login on a private tab) it works for a while but then eventually it stops again. I've just learnt to use the emojis manually.

Edit: Using Chrome on my Huawei P30 phone. :? :confused:

Same issue on iOS - though sometimes it will replace the old style colon & right bracket with a smilie emoji if I go old skool.

Are you sure you’re in the rich text edit mode. Tap the three dots on the right and make sure the open and close square brackets are black, not yellow.

That worked for me too thanks. :eek:

Don't know how that got turned on or changed but it's sorted now!
