Can't set correct desktop resolution

In a last ditch effort to fix my ongoing problems with ATI drivers, I'm once again installing the driver only, without CCC.

However, this time I'm having problems setting the desktop resolution, I can only choose up to a maximum of 1014*768 from the windows control panel area. How can I set it to 1440*900 without installing CCC, when it's saying I can only have a maximum that's incorrect?

I think you just need to accept defeat and re-install windows. It's never worth the hours and hours of trying and failing people regularly go through to fix a problem.

Sounds to me like your installation is messed up in some way. I wouldn't even be surprised if it wasn't the ATi drivers that were causing the actual problem, but more of a conflict issue.

What card did you have before the ATi one?

Anyway, I'd just take an hour out to reinstall windows if I were you.
