I've just got my self two 1tb drives from overclockers, set them up in a raid 1 (so they mirror)

how ever when i share the drive no computer can connect to it. i can share anything else on any other drive just nothing on the Raid 1 drive.

At first i thought it was a problem with the IRP Stack Size so i upped it to 30, however i now see that this problem is any any file on my PC.

The "server" is a windows XP pro with service pack three, the PC accessing it is a windows XP pro with service pack 2.

I've even copyied the same files across to another non Raided drive and they work fine.....

It's a hardware raid on a M2N32-sli deluxe ....

Any clues any one ?!?!?

yeah check if the drive/partition is shared and then the folder itself, is the computer on a domain because that could change the sharing options?

NTFS permissions?

I've tryed sharing the root of the drive and a single file on the drive both of which don't work

Neither computer is on a domain but they are both on the same workgroup..

This is the error i get.

\\192.168.0.1\m is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

(then just an ok box)

just got a new error.

same message on the top line
second line reads

"Not enough server storage is available to process this command"

This is when i have "allow network users to change my files" ticked

I've now set the IRPstacksize to 30 on the server (missed that bit....)

But i'm still getting the same error, both machines now have the stack size at 30 but i still get the error on the machine i'm trying to access from....

i would try reapplying the service pack as it said on the page because you are getting the not enough space message, which is caused by a problem with the network components which in turn is probably causing your share problems.

Edit: actually thats probably wrong cos you said you copied a file to another disk on the same server. if its a newly installed os though i would try it

Sorry, early morning and a late nite before hand....

Well i'm downlloading th offline version so i can reapply it, fingers crossed it works

Either way i shall let you know ;)

I have just reapplied SP3 to the server and it's still not allowing me to access any thing on the Raid 1 drives.
I have also jumped on the Asus site to see if there is an updated driver, no luck
and also jumped on the windoz update to see if there is an updated driver, no luck.

SP2 is build into the machine accessing the resource, i take it the next thing to try is getting them on the same SP ?!?!?

not that any one is looking, but just incase any one searchs this.

I'm now going to try unstalling the windows signed driver, and installing an old one

as they guys at work have advised me.
