Sorry for the noob thread but I'm going mad.

I've rebooted, changed my password, reset network adapter, but I still can't connect.

The only thing I've changed on my system is installed Unreal Tournament 3.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

Just to double check, is your system time correct and can you connect to windows update? If not change the time to the correct time and it will go through. Very odd glitch but it does work lol.

If windows update still works try using the connection wizard within messenger and see what its erroring out on.

System time/date correct, can connect to windows update, have ran setup utility and it says everything's fine.

I'm going to uninstall ut3 to see if it works..

Thanks but I said I rebooted in the OP :) Just waiting for a download to finish and I'll reboot then as I've uninstalled ut3.

Bit annoyed if msn won't work because of a game! Finished most of my Uni coursework now and fancied playing a bit xD

Ahh missed that one lol, the only other thing I know of that normally screws around with MSN is the hosts file but that should show up when you run that connection check within messenger.

Never heard of Pidgin, will try it.

Why bed? :)

Edit: I've managed to sign in using Pidgin, better than nothing but I'd rather stick to MSN. I'll try reinstalling.

Tried several different restore points, changed password again, tried a few things from google searches including activating some things from start>run and it's still not working.

I have the same issue on my work PC. I followed all the instructions on google/microsoft etc. but still doesn't work. I'll keep checking this thread to see if you succeed where I failed
