Can't sign into youtube app, iPad 1

I guess this dates back to all that google+ swapover, but I can't get this to work.

(using iPad 1 so can't update to the new youtube app)

Have set up two stage verification

Followed the process outlined here:

so, along with the application specific 16 digit password it generates I've tried as my sign in name, [email protected], YT-name and gmailname. Nothing works


Using safari and m.youtube.com on the ipad with the original password works fine, can also switch between [email protected] and YT-name as they are the same account.

Same thing on the PC, login with the original password and it's fine.




Is this a case of repeatedly banging my head on the desk until it works?

I don't believe you can on a pad.

Something about adult material and not being able to verify you age.

It's not that, other people have managed to get this to work (and obviously some like me haven't).
I just wondered if other people have tried this, got it to work or not.


Oh and it's also cocked up my mail app now

**** you Google and your half-assed account integration, nobody wants freaking Google+
...and I thought RSA server software was as dumb as bricks

Youtube is messed up on my android phone currently, it's a crock of ****.
