I have had a bit of a bad week with my PC! It started when I installed a new GPU which didn't seem compatible with my current psu. I replaced the psu and proceeded to blow my SSD by using the power cable from the original psu!

I got that fixed, and let night I was up and running.

This morning, the machine is totally unresponsive with no lights on the motherboard at all. I tried swapping that psu for yet another one, but it is still dead.

Is there anyway of checking the motherboard? I have checked that all the wiring is correct (including to the power button on the case!), but I am just not getting any power at all.

Setup is:

4790K CPU
Asus Maximus VII Mini ITX motherboard
16GB RAM

I have unplugged the GPU altogether to rule that out as a problem, and I have tried the different psus, power sockets and kettle leads.

Any help appreciated!

Take the motherboard out of the case and connect only the essentials. Short out the power button jumper on the motherboard and see if it starts. If not something fairly major has died - likely, given that the SSD suffered
