Hi,

I have just transferred my laptop to Vista from XP.

I backed up the inbox.dbx and sent items.dbx which contain all my emails but it turns out Windows Mail won't touch them without the "folders.dbx".

Could anyone with an XP machine/Outlook Express sort me me out with this file please? from what I've gathered it's a fairly generic file just indexing your email folders.

Much appreciated.

Thanks for the help but that won't work because I failed on this part:

"Copy the Outlook Express folder and all its contents to the Documents folder on the computer running Windows Vista."

I only copied the inbox and sent items files which contained my emails - this was enough for OE to OE backup so I didn't think to back up the others, it turns out the folder.dbx is the key to importing them which I don't have... so I was hoping someone with XP/Outlook Express could sort me out with a basic one. :)

Some guy posted one on another forum for someone with the same problem and it appeared to work but the link was old and dead.

It doesn't even need to be a folder.dbx from someone who is using Outlook Express for their email just anyone with XP really, OE creates the .dbx files when it is first run and a fresh folder.dbx would do I think.

My only other option is to reinstall XP and get one myself but it's taken me 5hrs+ to get my Vista install to this stage and I don't want to go through it all again. :(

Never mind mate I renamed my Sent items.dbx to Inbox.dbx and imported it.

Thanks you very much El_Watcher I owe you one. :)
