I was shutting my pc down last night, it all switched off as normal but after 2 seconds the pc started up again.
I tried about 10 times to turn it off even using the on/off switch on the case but it still switches itself back on. In the end I unplugged it from the power and hoped that it would be fixed this morning but it is still doing it.

Anyone have any idea why it is doing this. It was working fine before and nothing has been changed.

Thanks

my laptop started doing this, another symptom was the fact that the clock would not work, it would just stay within about 30 minutes of whatever time you set it to indefinately...

i sent it back and their diagnosis was a faulty motherboard, they replaced that and that alone and now its all fixed, so maybe you're in the same boat i was...

hope this helps :)

It could be the on/off switch on your case, try checking its connections to the motherboard.

Now I'm not entirely sure, but would disconnecting it completely and shorting the connections with a paperclip or something be a good test? Probably best to get a second opinion before trying that.

PK!

Yeah, feel free to short the pins.

That's how i do it when testing hardware out of a case.

Also, check your bios hasn't done something funky like set itself to restart after power off. ;)

Thanks guys I got it fixed. It was a problem with my TV card.
I had the power and reset cables from the case plugged into the TV card then from that into the connections on the motherboard.
I tried plugging them directly from the case into the motherboard and it worked. :)

Ah, One of the ones that lets you turn your pc on and off from the remote? I've just bought and installed the iMon VFD which lets you do that, the only problem is you still have to walk over to the pc to pick the user and enter a password on the log in screen...
