Can't update BIOs on P5N-E SLI

Trying to update the BIOS using the easyflash 2 thing from the BIOS and it tells me "downgraded file not suitable for the system" or similar. I've tried all the ones from the ASUS site and the only one it will let me use is the existing 0401 version.

Any idea why?

you need to go into the BIOS update settings options, and check the 'allow downgrade BIOS' box.

OK just had a look through the BIOS, easyflash and the manual and I can't find that option.

You need to use ASUS Update.

Use options to enable downgrade of bios

then select update from file, not web.

It won't install for some reason. Using Vista X64.

looks like your going to have to do it from a booted CD with the flash software then.

Will it allow me to boot of the mobo CD and flash from the file on a USB stick?

sorry can't help there.

I dont have the P5NE installed anymore (pulled it on monday), but from what I remember you can update from within BIOS if you can put the BIN flie onto a USB stick.

Yeah that's what I'm trying but comes up with that downgraded message when I try.
