Can't view video files!

Hello,

Lately... I can't seem to view any media files apart from AVI files recorded with fraps

I've tried other players such as winamp and VLC but they're the same too

This is what i get with WMP, the other players display nothing at all

(Just realised it doesnt show up on the screenshot... it showed it in paint )

Basically i can see the BLUE edges of the XP windows in the video

I really can't find out whats wrong with it, its been happening for about a week now, before I could just restart my pc and it would be fine again but now its not working at all (but i can still play games, cs and css)

System specs:
Abit ab9 pro
intel 6400
xfx 7900 gs
2gb 800mhz geil ram
xfi sound blaster fatal1ty

first thing i'd try is uninstalling your graphics drivers and then installing a newer set

because it doesn't work in vlc, it suggests a driver problem.. (i use ffdshow and mpc myself mind)

It seems to have worked

I tried reinstalling... but that obviously doesnt work as well

yeah i never used to uninstall drivers first, usually there's no problem, but after having a few headaches with weird problems, i always remove graphics drivers (download new ones first), reboot, then install new ones, then reboot
