Hi there

I am looking at the Canyon Pathlite 6.0 for £999. My only concern is that it is shipped from Germany and if anything goes wrong then it is s long way to deal with any issues/Customer service seems terrible. Can anybody suggest an alternative that is UK based?

Thanks

Does it have to be a hybrid?

For that cash I'd be (and am) looking at the Boardman Gravel bike, the ADV 8.9 Adventure.

GRX drivetrain, best price I've seen with that.

If it does, then why not the Boardman HYB 8.8?

Or maybe some of the bikes at Halfords.

Not sure why the Canyon is that price TBH, plus I've read some bad thongs about Canyons (lack of) service at the moment.

And yeh, a bit stuffed if something goes wrong with it, especially now we've left Europe.

I was just looking for a bike that will do a bit of road/off-road. This seemed to fit the bill:

There was this at £850

Not sure spec wise what is better between the Boardman HYB. I was looking at them as there is the new 2021 models. I just had bad experiences with Halfords and bikes. From setting up the bike to quality control in the past. But not the Boardman range.

Obviously the Canyon you've linked to has front suspension, whereas the two Boardman's I've linked to don't.

Ive never quite seen the point of a hybrid with FS, why not just get a mountain bike?

There are other choices of bikes with FS if that's what you require, at Halfords.

Personally I had a great experience with them, but they have a lot of stores so there's bound to be differences between them.

A gravel bike will happily do offroad, mines does and it's awesome. I suppose it depends what you want it for? Pootling to the shops etc? Long journeys and some actual training - gravel.
