Hello chaps, not sure if GD is the best place for this. If there is a better place can a mod please move it?

I need to replace a capacitor on a ceiling fan, the one in question is;

1znUjzIl.jpg

The text on it is;

CBB61
1.5uF +- 5%
450V AC C
50/60Hz SH PO
25/085/21 08.01

Any advice on what and where I can get one. I have found one on amazon that looks the same but is 25/70/21 Which I believe is the ambient operating temp max and I am unsure if this matters.

Other things that I have tried and probably don't need mentioning;

1. Turned it on and off
2. Poo'd through its letterbox
3. Several hours of boxing stance
4. Got my dad, who kills queen wasps for a living to kill it
5. Killed it with fire
6. Mustard
7. Manned up
8. Opened a window
9. Hovis
10. Pulled my plonker on the hour, every hour

Many thanks

No clue about capacitors but the 10 point list made me giggle :)

I suspect that more people will spend time coming up with things that I didn't list than replies from electronic people. Its GD, its a risk and I can live with it ;):p

Search amazon for 450V 1.5uF 50/60Hz Fan Motor Start Run Capacitor CBB61

£2.46 and it's yours.

I'd ignore the operating temps, it's unlikely to be applicable, the model numbers match as does the capacity, voltage and frequency which is the main thing to worry about.

Have you tried taking it to a Maplins and checking if someone useful can see if they carry it? I've done a search on their website but it has returned nothing.

There are lots of options on where to buy, but as long as it's 1.5uF, 450V and 50/60Hz and even has the same model number, it's fine.

Thanks guys, it was just the ambient temp thing that was bothering me. The only other thing is that the one that I have (in the photo) is RED/BLUE and the one on amazon is RED/BLACK, does it matter which way they go in. Obviously I would think RED would be RED on both and BLUE/BLACK but.....
