Any idea what causes Capacitor noise? , its not loudly squealing high pitched or anything . But every now and then i hear what can only be discribed as a slight quiet squeal coming from my computer.

In the rig I am building at the moment the capcitors are making a noise like a hard drive being access in windows and a noise like interference when in the post and bios screens. I have plugged in a cheap hiper psu just to test and this seems to be the cause. Maybe the source of you issue as well. It may also help if you could post your spec.

had this on my last build and mine was down to thermal protection on the motherboard which i turned off in bios and the noise was gone

Thermal protection hmm , is that when you tell it to shut down if it gets too hot i have an nforce 2 dfi slr :)

Mogwai doubt its the psu its a OCZ 700 watt it seems to be coming from the board or away from the psu atleast

in my bios i have cpu thermal throttling and thermal throttling temperature so turned off the second one which stopped the noise

mines a asrock motherboard

yup i get this too. I hope I get those bios features in my next X58 build, as I wanted to use old PC as a NAS, put all HDs in it and just have a SSD in my PC in living room!
