Locking DLC on the disc for SF x Tekken!
Source here
By including these 12 characters on the disc, the idea was to ensure easy compatability between players who do and do not choose to download the characters when they arrive as DLC.”

“The update also saves on file size - instead of a massive download, there will be a much smaller unlock that brings the new content to the surface.

Unfortunately this is all too common now

But they're saving you the hassle of downloading it

Seems ok to me, you pay to get the extra stuff, I still don't see the issue

The issue is it's already on the disk, so why not add it to the game for free, then make all new DLC.

Because like BioWare it wasn't part of their initial production/budget and have put extra resources into creating this after I'd imagine and have been able to put it on the disc.

If you don't like it, don't buy it, it is nothing new all these DLC features and a new thread for everytime a new game is released with this is getting boring and only going to become more frequent.

Simply put, if you don't like it, don't pay for it.

EDIT: Whilst I don't particularly like it, it is neither surprising or that annoying, they are a business and their first and foremost objective is to survive and make a profit.

I won't be buying it anyway, still it's poor practice, soon we might have EA making us pay to unlock Barcelona in Fifa :D

I have not seen other threads about DLC on disk on here for ages either.

so dont buy the game on release (bc ME3 is out) wait a few weeks (After finishing ME3) and then buy the game for £20-£25 then you save £10 which can go on the dlc. Win win.

Was thinking the same  - though the subject was briefly brought up in the SFxT thread - Im just not going to buy it til it drops so by the time I buy all the DLC its back to being a full priced game.

The mad thing is some of the DLC (the gems) can affect the gameplay quite drastically...

ps3ud0

Was more DLC on release, or DLC very soon after release, people acting as if it is something new/shocking,

Makes piracy a lot more moral. How about I pirate the game and then pay for just the downloadable content. HA tables turned.

If it was such a huge take on resources, maybe they could have released the game a couple months earlier if they have spent all this extra time creating new characters !!

Man......i miss the days of cheat disc/carts. Simple, enter code, unlock all characters and save data. Job done!!!

Real DLC is a good thing, it is like good old add ons that PC games used to have. It shows the devs are supporting the game & thinking of the gamers by creating new maps/characters etc. The add ons for Command & Conquer were always better (imo) then the main game. However this day 1 DLC is absolutely ridiculous. It does not show devs carrying on supporting a game & making new things for it. It shows they completed making the game, then thought "oh, why don't we lock 30% of the characters then charge extra for them by labelling them DLC".

Day 1 DLC is just a way to rip gamers off. Nothing more.
