Capture Card with HDTV?

Hey all.

I'm looking for a capture card so I can record stuff on my HDTV (such as 360 and PS3 gameplay) onto my PC. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do such a thing, nor what I would need. Can anyone point me in the right direction, as well as possibly giving me any pointers on software that could convert captured videos into a more desirable, smaller format?

can't help with the capture card, but if you are capturing HD video its gonna be massive files. you can use VirtualDub to encode them to a smaller format.
