Capturing Video

I have Ulead Video Studio 9 and Pinnacle 9 installed on my PC, but when I capture video from my DV Camera using UVS I am unable to open it using Pinnacle.

Is this normal or should it open in both.

Should open in most programs but what file type you capturing in?

capturing as a DV file, as an AVI

I've had a few problems like that, I've got over it by getting some pro software but you can work around it by capturing at full DV in Windows Movie Maker (there wouldn't be any loss of quality) and importing. That may well work.

Try that and turn the clip maker functiony thing off or you'll be waiting around for ages.

I use my Pinnacle to capture from camcorder to PC with the firewire card.Never had any problems , great piece of kit is Pinnacle.You should'nt need anything other than what you have to capture directly from camera.When using Pinnacle ,are you in the capture mode ? you should have the camera picture lower left of the screen and the preview window top right of the screen and you should be able to see what your capturing and be able to control the camera from the buttons on the screen.The capture will be an avi and be in scenes and should be on the screen when you go to edit mode.
