I'm looking for a new car. As you can see from the thread title im quite tall. Im looking to spend about 3-4k. No special requirements really but nothing with an engine over 2ltr.

So if anyone has any car model suggestions for a taller person in that price range that would be great.

Thanks

My brother in law's 6'7", I'll just reel off a list of cars I can think of that he's happily owned and driven in the hope it will help :D

Bora

106 (honestly)

Transit van

Toyota Starlet (My sister's, but he happily fits in and drives it, no bugger can fit behind him though)

Toyota Corolla T-sport (the new shape one)

I'm 6'6" and have comfortably driven:
Saab 9-3, Mazda 626, Renault Laguna, Honda Accord and had zero problems being a passenger in my friends Peugeot 309 and even my gf's Skoda Fabia.

Passat mate, passat all the way.
I'm 6'6" passat is the only truly roomy car i've owned. (even my E90 M5 didn't offer quite as much room)

Get the 1.8T engine, the 2.0 is sluggish even after a remap.

the last gen passat was crap for tall people. Drove the new one a few times and don't remebmber it being good.

I am 6ft 3ish and find BMWs normally the best as the seats go much lower than most cars.

what size feet does he have? with the basic one that i drove i kept hitting/pushing 2 pedals at once. size 10 feet!

Spie must be getting on that height and he just deleted the sunroof from the M5 to make sure he fitted!

Ah a topic close to my heart! I'm 6ft 8"

Mondeo mk3 = perfect for even my size

Mondeo mk2 = dunno

Vectra 04 onwards = Similar to mondeo mk3, perfect size wise.

Ford Focus (98-05) = Also great for me on manual or auto which i was kind of surprised at.

Gen 6 Toyota Celica was fine actually on an auto.

Gen 7 Toyota Celica = can't fit in at all weirdly, they made it smaller!

Honda Accord 98-03 seems great on the auto, not convinced on the manual.

Honda Accord 03+ i could def fit in 'ok' with a manual or auto.

BMW e39 5-series is great

BMW e38 7-series even more so, best roomwise i've come across. Tbh i'd be quietly confident i'd be ok in this if i was 7ft 8, nevermind 6ft 8.

BMW e46 3-series i've recently been told should be ok but when i tried it wasn't very pleasant :p

I recently had this same dilema and decided it wasn't the right time (with taxation laws kicking in) to go for something too adventurous. I opt'd for an 00 reg Honda Accord exec automatic 2.0 and i've been really pleased with it so far, very easy to live with day to day and easily enough room. 40mpg on a run, maybe 28mpg combined.

m around this height and comfortably drive a fabia vrs. It's a curse being this tall when looking for a new car. Desperately wanted a vx220 but have no chance. Going to look into audi tts next as they have good space for taller drivers.

I'm 6' 4"...

Peugeot 406 saloon and estate - enough room

Peugeot 306 - not comfortable at all

Mondeo MK2 - more room with the manual seats. Not too bad with electric seats but I would have preferred slightly more room personally

BMW 3 series coupe - Just got one of these and there's more room in this than any car I've previously owned. Loads of legroom!

!

I am 6ft 3in and find a 406 estate bearable but not good, 407 is much better but still not perfect. Mk2 mondeo i found bad with manual seats but okay with the electric seats.

not sure on the Bora, I'm 6ft exactly and its just about far enough away from wheel for me [I think I am of normal propotions height wise :)]

I found E34 5er no go but my E28 is fine, but not great. E36 coupe I drove was very comfortable. My Dad's 2000 Audi A6 also has plenty of room. E39 not great for the size.

Driven all kinds of rental cars, mostly no problem. Even Fiat Panda was just about bearable. Current model Astra is poor for legroom. Golf mk5 good. SEAT Leon I had on my last rental was comfortable enough when you were in but getting in and out was annoying cos with the seat all the way back you have to avoid hitting the door pillar.

For that money if you don't really care what it is you should get a Mondeo Mk3 (petrol).

6'7" btw.
