I was recently in one of our works vehicles and paired my phone to it via bluetooth, having never done this before my eyes were opened!! I didn't realise you could stream music etc as well as make calls!

I drive a Skoda Superb and so do not want to replace the already decent media system albeit without bluetooth :(

Any recommendations on a good bluetooth kit?

Three choices, the official Bluetooth module for about 300quid and get it fitted, a Bluetooth to 3.5mm jack kit which is great quality but you need to hide wires and last and least is a Bluetooth to FM transmitter, they're usually wire free but you lose quite a bit of audio quality.

I went for the following kit for my wife's golf and it works very well, let me know if you want any tips on fitting http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00L4Y98QI/

This one looks a bit better in hindsight, much better having a 90degree jack plug. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-input/dp/B009NLTW60/

While I agree that v4 is more modern, here's not all that essential. Bluetooth v4 only adds BT low energy mode (beacons etc... going to be a big thing over the next few years), it's not used for this bluetooth profile (A2DP/AVRCP). v3 added transfer over 802.11x which again, isn't used by devices like this. There's generally more encryption per device / link in later versions too but I don't think anyone wants to listen to others music tastes :)

I'd run that through your handbrake gaiter then along into the armrest either through a grommet or a small drilled hole to get to the 3.5mm input.

To hide the wires to the actual control button, assuming there's adequate length you can either tuck it under the trim running up to wherever you want it to go or hard wire it into your 12v socket, meaning the only bit of cable you'll see is wherever the actual button is going to be placed (unless you drill a small hole and run it behind, but that's going a bit far)

good call, but i've just looked again at my order and it already comes with a right angle jack (thankfully!).

Thanks for the pics too, looks a neat piece of work and hopefully i can do something similar.

The official kit is actually more like £150 new online, the only issue is that it will need coding in although there are a lot of people about who can sort this out for free/relatively cheaply. It's the option I'm looking to go with too, it integrates with the steering wheel controls and the screen between the clocks and stereo if you have the right one. I'm assuming your Superb is a Mk2 one.
