Started skidding on the road for about 200m then eventually hit a tree at 30mph and spun across the road, was pretty scary to say the least. Then we phoned the police, family and friends and the car was towed away, me and maxwell escaped uninjured (apart from the airbag nearly knocking maxwell (the driver) out). Three cars arrived from 6th form to give us a lift back (and see the crash scene lol). So an eventful day for me, but i'm glad to be safe.

Done the same thing, about 3 weeks after I had passed. 50 - 60mph, straight road, young lacie in the car  . Hit the kerb, car swung out 360'd and eventually hut the lamppost. 2 fire brigades police ambulance doh! She wasn't wearing her seatbelt after pulling over to tell her to put it on. Owell she was ok though just a few stitches, but she's learnt her lesson just not the best way to learn it. :(

Even managed not to affect my no claims as council never charged me for the lampost :D

Glad everyones ok. It happens to most young drivers, makes you a better driver imho.

Fixed for truth and accuracy ;)

A combination of a greasy road and inexperienced driver. Basically we were doing 35mph in a 40mph zone, and hit a patch of mud. This initiated the skid and the driver touched the brakes making it worse, plus the road was quite greasy from all the leaves. Luckily nobody was coming up the other side of the road and we didn't go down the ravine on the other side lol. The tree has some surface wounds :p bit of stripped bark but it faired better than the car.

Now i'm not making excuses for the OP's driver, but in his defense i have noticed the roads getting stupidly slippery for the past week or two. Even underfoot the roads are slippery as hell. Of course, speed does play a part as well but....

Glad you're ok!

Once the madness had passed we checked what gear we left it in when we legged it out of the car because it was smoking and hissing lol. It was left in 2nd gear so could only have been doing 35-40mph at most. There were no skid marks on the road at all because were were just purely sliding on surface grease.

Is that Lord Byron's Walk in Seaham? Looks like it to me! If so that is my home town! :)

Glad your ok because that is a notorious black spot! Wasn't that long ago a crash killed several people, pretty much where you ended up except they went into a tree as that fence wasn't there! In fact you can still see the bark damage where they had hit the tree!

My 214i (8v) could hit over 60indicated in second.

Wow, that tree's done some serious damage, looks like the car just folded around it.

Glad you're safe though, could have been far worse, especially if hit by another car when you spun.

lol, we hadn't even tested the car that much tbh, it was a 214 16v. Must have been at around 4-5k rpm in second so i don't know what speed that would equal

Glad to hear your are ok.. could have been worse, the car is a write off though.

You only got a baby police car :(
