Car Headlight Bulb Numbers

I need to replace the headlight bulb yet again, less than 5 months since I last did so. But I don't understand the H1,H2,H3 etc numbering system.

Its for a MK4 Ford Fiesta. Can anyone recommend a particular brand?

Phillips Vision Plus

make sure you don't touch the glass!

edit: what year is mk4?

edit 2: and which bulb needs replacing? high beam or low beam?

Its an S Reg 98/99, the light is the standard headlight you would normally have on in the dark, not the high beam used occasionaly.

you can search for your car type/model on the right, you need the H7 low beam bulb.

I've got a pair of Phillips Vision Plus, they're excellent
