hey, really out of ideas so im seeking the help of guys in the know.
i currently have a renault laguna 2002, 93000 miles atm (bought by my father with zero warranty in awful condition) which is due for its MOT very soon, and going on what i know, it's going to fail epicly, and cost a hell of a lot.

so im in need of a car, that's gonna last me atleast 3 years of commuting into Uni and back, and general getting about town.

budget is up to £3500 at most, and would have to be on finance, though ideally would be £60-£80 a month.

as its gotta last me 3 years of use pretty much everyday, ideally i'd want one thats comfortable, and decent inside. tried scouring autotrader but most seem overpriced, or really high mileage, which worries me as my current one was bought at 91000 miles, and ive already paid £700 in repairs.

any brands, models, places to buy from (unless all nationwide places are pants which is the impression people give) , general advice would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Mondeo. How far are you commuting? And don't spend anywhere near that much would be my advice.. c. £1000 maybe?

only ones near me are automatics, any other cars worth a search?
or any of the national dealers worth trying?

woah nearly 2 grand for a mk2 mondeo

over 3 years ago i paid 800notes for a W reg mk2

Edit: 1500 should get a nice early mk3 easily, much better car than the mk2

Mark 3 = 2000 - 2007, with a refresh around 04/05 models.

So you should be able to get something easily between 2000 - 2004, reasonable millage (expect 80k+) for your budget. Not a problem for the 2 litre petrol which is pretty reliable as they go.

You would want Zetec or Ghia spec (I think they still used these during these years) as will come with good toys and comfort.

There's heaps of examples around for about a grand that'll do you well for 3 years. I'm not saying you should buy the one in the ad, it's just an example. I suggested a Mondeo because they're decent cars, plenty of space, comfortable, insurance isn't too bad, parts are cheap, fairly reliable.. and there's loads of them around so you can get a lot of car for your money.
