Need abit of help if possible im trying to find a part but getting no where and Peugeot to get it sorted want £380 (£270 part and rest is labor but that fee is per hour!!)

We have a 2008 SUV Crossover limited edition 64 plate, some chav or adult decided to damage the driver side wing mirror, The electrics are fine it still folds in and out no issues, the chrome cap is okay too as is the glass mirror itself but the black plastic bit thats under the indicator repeater is half smashed and they decided to cover it up using black masking tape.

Peugeot say i need to replace the entire wing mirror but since it works i think its abit daft, either my google skills fail or there telling the truth and some one else has cost me £380 :(

Has any one got a good place for parts or can point me in the right direction?
 
Who did you speak to? Cant you just speak the parts people in the service area and ask them to order the specific part?

If you speak to the reception in the service area they will probably try and book the car in for an expensive job, but most garages I thought have a desk for ordering and picking up parts. Better to speak with them.
 
I needed a replacement wing mirror, just the mirror mind, for my focus. Ford quoted me £100 but I could have got the whole unit off ebay for less than that, managed to get a mirror of the internet for £14 in the end. It was a pain in the ass to fit though.

I spoke to the parts manager directly and he got part number etc and it was him who told me the price, i cant see any on ebay that will work, i found a breaker car but some one had taken the wing mirror of it all ready.

Yup it is what baffled me and the wife, i think some one stole it to replace theirs maybe? i mean a kid wouldn't go to that lengths to hide it very odd! Tbh i just think its part of parcel where we live our last car was keyed 4 times on the boot, not having much luck! Chavs just lock em all up! haha
 
Did you make a note of the part number? Post it here so we can get googling it lol.

I remember Ford quoting me £250 for a new wing mirror on my Focus, I almost fainted! Managed to get it sorted myself for £20 in the end :)

That's a non folding mirror by the way.

To the OP - Does seem strange, so somebody took off your old mirror and replaced with a broken one? Don't you have to get inside of the door or at least the car to do that? You don't have any of that black tape in your house do you? :D

Or a scrote tried to force the mirror off and broke it.

It's the tape bit I just don't get, surely any self respecting scrote with even a few brain cells would then just have run off rather than get some tape and try to tape the mirror back in place?

Nope it's the original mirror some one just broke the under black plastic part and covered it with black masking tape, unfortunately I don't have any of that tape it's partly why I have taken tape off to see if there is any worse damage inside. I'll get part number when wife is home she has car atm. I do have some pics on my phone which I'll put up later as it shows the tape
 
so the under black bit is all tape it's the most strange thing to do I can't see why any scrote would go to that length to cover it up usual a person who does damage just runs. The wife didn't do it either cheeky sod lol
 
Just buy an electric foldimg mirror for a 208/2008 in any colour from eBay and swap all the bits specific to your car over - they look to be about £60

Manufacturers tend to sell the full assembly only, with the cover beig seperate

Edit - a folding mirror is around £100
