Good Morning Motors!

Mrs had a little bump yesterday (rear passenger wing scraped to plastic and allow has been scraped a fair bit).
Other driver admitted fault and have his details etc.

What's the best process to take? I'm assuming not contacting my insurance is best due to increased premium next year for non-fault claim.. do we just ring his insurance and let them know?

Never had to claim before in some 16years of driving so unsure on the correct process.

Thanks.

You should ring the 3rd party's insurer to get the damage resolved.

However you still need to inform your insurer of the incident, just make it clear that you have spoken to the 3rd party insurer and they are handling any claim.

You will still need to declare a non-fault claim at renewal.

Other drivers insurance to get damage dealt with
Your insurance to lodge the accident and confirm its being with by other insurer

Failure to lodge it means your at risk of them being unhappy, your policy says you should, plus you have to declare at renewal anyway

Edit, damn I need to type faster ;)

Contacting any insurance company will mean there's paperwork in the system saying you've had an incident and therefore will definitely need declaring at renewal.

You'll probably find it'll make next to no difference to your renewals anyway so I'd just go with the insurance route to keep life simple, contact yours as an fyi, contact theirs saying you want to claim through them.
