Interesting,Setting up a service company made this much easier (to balance input and output VAT)
Did some, belated, due diligence on RAC, the service company had been, had up, for unfair T&c'S, and they still have onerous conditions (as a consequence of their intermediary nature?) like, not refunding all if you cancel before policy start.
I forget when purchasing insurance to look beyond the premium, at the cost of policy modifications - when you change address/car mid policy - Aviva had been good there,

Who are BISL Limited? BISL Limited is a car and motorbike insurer that arranges and manages policies under several names that it owns and also for about a dozen other firms. Why the terms were changed BISL has agreed to change the cancellation terms in its policies.
This is because we believe the original terms were confusing and unfair. Our assessment is that the original terms did not explain clearly to customers who cancelled their policies early how BISL would calculate any refund of premium due to them. The contract terms allowed BISL to cancel a policy and either refund or keep the premium, depending on the circumstances, which needed to be explained more fully.
These changes affect all customers who have bought car or motorbike insurance through: · Auto trader · HSBC Car Insurance · Barclays Motor Insurance · iBuyeco · Bennetts · Lloyds TSB Car Insurance · Budget · M&S Car Insurance · Bradford & Bingley Car Insurance · Pearl Car Insurance · Dial Direct · Post Office Motor Insurance · Ecoinsurance for Cars · RAC Car Insurance · Halifax Car Insurance · Yesinsurance.co.uk
