Car mats, do you buy original ones for your make and model or aftermarket? If aftermarket any to avoid or any who offer decent quality?

I’ve just taken ownership of a Jaguar XF Sportbrake and I feel guilty considering cheap aftermarket carpets

I bought Ford ones for my 2nd hand Focus (I think they were only £15) but as the last few cars we've bought have been new they come with mats.

I would buy original if there wasn't a huge difference in price.

Always original. Buy cheap, buy twice. I'm sure there are some aftermarket better than OEM but nobody got time for that.

Edit: Funny you make this thread though, I've had my E43 mats playing on my mind. They're original, <6k mile mats, but the drivers heal position is totally worn out. My C180 with the same style mats were mint at 25k. Odd.

Unless you got a Citroen.
OEM mats aren’t cheap and they are bad too.
My heel went through in around 3 months.

I stuck a cheap generic (brand wise - it is a compatible part) one on the drivers side on my truck as the OEMs aren't ideal surface wise for my use* - surprisingly has held up fine for into the 10s of thousands of miles - I was expecting to go through them quite quickly so I just went with something in the middle of the cheaper range.

* Despite being chunky rubber they can get slippery easily and don't cooperate the best with boots.

My XE came without any floor mats. I bought some genuine Jaguar luxury model mats from a Jag dealer via ebay. They were well worth the hundred quid.

I buy tailored fit ones to match make and model of car. I don't buy the "one size fits all" off the shelf type.

Usually get them off a company on eBay who make them to order. Reasonable price.

Had eBay tailor made ones, 1/3 the price of manufacturer ones but you can get a colour to match, have the clips to keep them in place and last as least as long.

Would never buy OEM ones again and dealers seem to be getting stingy with throwing then in on a purchase.

Over the decades of motoring I've done I've settled on good quality tailored rubber mats for my cars. So that's normally from the manufacturer or, with a couple of cars, I've had good experience with a brand called Travall, although because they're good sometimes they aren't all that much cheaper than OEM.

I have a set of diamond car mats in my BM.

Probably sounds/looks incredibly chavvy but they do protect the interior from the kids/muddy shoes etc.
they look pretty , but can you just pour a bucket of water over them and use a scrub brush ... like my michelins ...
equally if they go up the transmission tunnel doesn't that annoy, even dirty, trousers; although,
I mean, I cant drive in wellington boots, nor double walled mountain boots, anyway.

OK - I can see diamonds are a symbol of individuality, and belief in personal freedom - what would Dexter choose ?

they're in coner sofa territory, like those round mercedes air vents.
