I was driving home on Friday from my sisters and the screen on the dash flashed up a warning saying "Misfire on cylinder 2" followed by "anti-pollution system failure" then the whole car started vibrating and the check engine light came on (I assume the ECU shut down the injector or something and it was running on 3 cylinders) I wasn't too far from home, so I just limped back with virtually no power.

Once I got home I left the car for a bit, when I tried it again it was fine and the check engine light had gone out,
I checked the ECU for faults and it only had the cylider misfire in there, I assume the pollution system message was due to it dumping the petrol into the exhaust.

Any idea what the cause might be? I picked up some new spark plugs Saturday to see if that sorts it, but I haven't had a chance to install them.
My other thought was that it might be the coil pack but I thought it best to try the plugs first as they are cheaper and are due to be changed this year anyway!

When driving it home after the fault appeared it was vibrating a lot when stationary, not so much when moving but wouldn't go above about 50, definitely noticed the lack of power at roundabouts.

having had a few pugs, i would say its spark plug or coil pack then, i had an iccident where some new spark plugs had been damaged and was causing a werid hesitation and making the engine management light come on.

Yep, if it's been serviced within the last 2 years it's most likely to be an ignition coil/pack. Plugs do fail, but coils seem far more likely.
