Just a quick straw poll really to see how much the recession / credit crunch has cramped your modding / tuning of your car and also to get an idea on what you are thinking of buying over the next year...

We havent seen a huge reduction in sales of modding parts as you would expect in a heavy recession and were wondering how much people sacrafice in order to mod there car, weve seen a steady increse on parts for older ( 6 years plus ) cars but at the same time were still bussy selling and developing parts for new cars...

your comments and thoughts please..

Why don't you just tell us how much You have spent & get it over with.

Does having a hole welded to pass an MOT count as mods? :)

Apart from that the only thing I've spent on my Golf is a little sticker of the Nurburgring with "Neverbeen" written through the middle.

If I get a Jeep, I might get a lift kit, bigger tyres and some KC Daylighters if theres anything left after the fuel bills :)

I'll of spent around £3500 (including the upcoming stage 3) over the course of 4 months modding.

Do you honestly think its worth it?

Why are you doing it all as quickly as you can? Do you not feel its good to enjoy the new power for a bit before throwing even more cash at it or are you just going for a MORE MORE MORE approach until its eventually undriveable? :p

It's his car, his opinion, and his fun, do you really think he'l say no :p:D

For that £3500 he could have bought a damn DC2 integra rather than some extra torx and hp.

Difficult choice on which is better value and more fun :D

About £600 polybushing and sorting the rear end out, another £400 or so shortly for rust and prop donut, diff mounts and rear top mounts.

Of course I think it's worth it. With the mods I have now, rear anti roll bar, alcon 4 pots and dap-r springs I imagen it handles MUCH better than you might think. Coupled with the LSD and a much smoother map it'll be a good all round fun car. I really can't wait to see if opinions will change at the next RR day.

Come to think of it I've spent next to nothing, but it's only been because neither of the cars have needed anything.

modding / tuning you either get or not... thats not the point.... the point is has the recession stopped you spending money on your car. and secondly ( if you mod / tune ) what do you plan to spend on it this year....

all my modding was sorted out ages ago. not changed anything since we went to the ring in 08, just servicing since then

credit crunch = no more modz for me!!

What recession ?
If I want summit I get it, Fortunetly I'm Ghetto & have trade connections or wise buy.
I think I've spent 500 quid since having the Polow but then I have changed the pump/Cambelt/pulley, Fitted new tyres/wheels bearings/full serviced it myself twice with synthetics just for the sake of it, chucked a few cosmetics bits at it to get it looking how I wanted it, just about got it how I want it now apart from some minor things.
Each to there own I say but we are allowed to take the **** out of each other. :)

rear 22mm whiteline ARB £132
solid motormount inserts £30 + £50 fitting + £45 for facelift rear engine mount
Cold air feed £30 from fleabay
TRD oil cap £25
Fujita F5 SRI intake £130 (not fitted yet)

still to go: Front strut brace, TTE lowering springs. maybe CAMCON VTEC CONTROLLER YO!

before the recession i also got a 2nd hand TTE backbox for £50 and fitted that....

Car - Toyota Corolla T-Sport 1.8 2zz
